Ahh September...

This year we get to experience First day of school twice. Once for Oliver starting second grade, the following day Lucius gets to start Kindergarten. Oliver got up and ready and we took him to school to meet his teacher on Tuesday morning. BUT before we left we took a few "first day of school" photos.

 

 

He was excited to see a lot of his old friends from first grade again. 

Lucius and I went to meet his new kindergarten teacher while we were there (since we missed orientation). He was nervous but pretty okay. When we left school Tuesday morning, Lucius was quite sad because he didn't get to start school. He told me all he really wanted to do was play with his friends but no one was around. I took him to the Library to see if we could find some books and maybe a friend. Turns out his friend did make it to one last story time before kindergarten. So after the library we invited her back to our house for lunch and playtime. We found face paint and had a ton of fun. It made waiting for Oliver's bus a lot more manageable.

Oliver slid right into school and had a soaring attitude even when he was the last kid dropped of twenty five minutes late because his bus broke down.

On Wednesday was the first day of kindergarten. Oliver chose to ride the bus and Lucius drive with me. I like dropping them off that first day, though they might find it annoying.  Lucius was all smiles. We arrived at the same time as a friend and walked in altogether. When he hung up his backpack he found a few more of his friends he had gone to preschool with. For my shy, reserved kid this was awesome to have friends he already knew in his class.

 

They all giggled and laughed while waiting for all the rest of the kids to come. Eventually (after a long 20 minutes) they all lined up and walked into their classroom. As I left he gave me a huge grin and waved goodbye. I'm so glad he's excited and can't wait to hear how his first day of Kindergarten went.
