DAY 6: Monday, day six, started bright and early. We were out the door and on
the road by 7am. Eek. We needed to drive to Rooster Rock by 8am. We
explored there for a little while and then headed off to see a few more
waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge area. First stop Mulnomah Falls,
then Wahkeena Falls.
Eventually it was time to start driving again. This time we were heading up past Seattle to Bellingham,
Washington where another cousin of mine lives. We weren't on the rode
too long before someone needed a bathroom. We stopped at the first gas
station we saw but after waiting a LONG time for the ONE restroom in the
whole station it was clear we wouldn't be able to hold it longer. We
saw a building not too far away and decide to try there. Turns out it
was a Lego brick store. The boys were ECSTATIC about this lucky bathroom
stop. Daddy even bought them each a new lego guy.
Not
too many other stops and we were in Bellingham pulling up to my cousins
house. We made it inside to say hi and unload the car. Oliver and Lucius
fell right into playing with my cousins' son Oscar. He had plenty of
toys and lots of cool new places in the house to explore. They spend the
first night hauling train pieces up to Oscar's loft area using his
pulley. They built a giant train track up there.
It was
a fantastic time to just let the boys play and be kids. Plus we just a
chance to visit with my cousin Kj and her husband, which I've been
wanting to do for a long time. After a lovely taco dinner (yeah- not
fast food!), we called it and early night and headed for bed.
