DAY 8: We were up late last night enjoying ice cream and chatting with my cousin's family. So we slept in a bit longer this morning. We cleaned up the trains out of the loft this morning after breakfast and then played in the "yes room" for a while. Around 10am we all piled into Kj's car and drove into downtown Bellingham for some adventures. First up, a couple of used bookstores to explore.
Then it was time for lunch. The adults picked a German sausage restaurant that was outdoors because the sun was shining and it sounded yummy. While waiting for the food, the boys played bean bag toss till there was conflict. Oh well.
Lunch was really good, warm soft pretzels with three kinds of mustard and Delicious sausages. Afterwards we walked to a museum Kj had told us about called Mindport. There's an artist that hand carves and makes all the things that are on display, most of which can be played with little people hands. How exciting and VERY cool. So glad we went.
Eventually all good things come to an end. It was time to travel back to Kj's house, pack the car and head in a homeward direction. We had a fantastic visit with my cousin Kj and her family. I hope we can do it again someday.
We left her house around 3pm and just drove. We made it to Leavenworth, WA (a cool old German town Jerimy and I visited on our honeymoon ten years ago). We stopped for a bite to eat and then to find the flat penny machine. Unfortunately the stores that had flat penny machines were closed, but I found one on the ground beside our car's parking spot. COOL! We drove straight on to Spokane Village to our hotel for the night around 10pm. Thankfully the boys fell asleep after dinner.
