Super Bowl Sunday...

For the last several years we've spent our super bowl down at our good friends house in Apple Valley. The kids all play well together and Lucius really gets into the game with their oldest. In fact the very minute we arrived their oldest and my youngest retreated to their basement where they played madden on the playstation until the super bowl began.

We eat lots of yummy food and enjoy great company. Always a good time.

Date night...

12 year ago on groundhogs day, Jerimy asked me to marry him. I said yes, he gave me a ring and the rest has been filled with lots of adventures. 

On Thursday, Feb 2nd, we went out to eat for dinner. When we finished our meal together we discussed going to the store to shop for something. Instead I googled fun things to do and something fun popped up. So we took a small adventure over to a new place to explore together. 

We went to Can Can Wonderland, a indoor minature golf course inside a refurished old soup can warehouse. Each hole is designed by an artist. It was pretty fun!

Lucius was sitting next to me and said: "Your hand smells like the olden days, when we were at that hospital with baby Holden"

A little while later Lucius said while cuddling with me: 

"You smell like a hospital full of babies"

STEAM...

Our librarian's are quite literally the best!! They are still hosting a weekly STEAM event for an hour on Wednesdays. The boys and I don't get to all of them but we try our best to get to most of them. A couple weeks ago it was making brissle bots. I wasn't sure what that meant but sounded fun.

The boys LOVED it. They each got to make a robot out of a tooth brush, battery and a pager motor. 

So much fun, with just a touch of frustration.

Lucius's soccer...

Lucius started another soccer class. He LOVES sports... Any and all sports. Doesn't matter what. So when we asked him to narrow it down, soccer was stiil close to the top of his sports he wants to play list.

He's loving running around on the field again. 

Quotable: war discussion...

The boys were having a discussion about wars with their young friend on our drive to chess club one morning before winter break. I forgot what it was mostly about but I did catch one part. Oliver was defining what war meant to his younger brother. He described it just as simply as this:

"War happens when you become consumed by hate."

I believe they were mentioning names like Hilter and Trump but also included Martin Luther King Jr as an example of someone who tried to overcome hate- which I found very insightful. 

These are crazy times and I personally hate how afraid my children are for our world and their friends because of the things our new president says and does. 

Free Concert...

I had heard that the Macphail Center for music was hosting a free concert on Saturday. So we drove over to Minneapolis to see the "Peter and the Wolf" concert. The boys were pretty excited about it. 

Lucius said his favorite part was the grandfather, Oliver said his was Peter cause he was a violin.

Oliver really wanted to see if he could try out a violin, since it was a music center. After the concert we found one to try. He was frustrated he wasn't terrific on the first try but he would still very much like to own his own violin.
