Oliver's School Spring Concert...

Oliver has been practicing at school a LOT and singing frequently around the house all the songs from his school spring concert. He told everyone about his concert and was super excited when the day actually arrived. I even think he convinced Lucius it was going to be some seriously awesome stuff, cause little brother was beaming and excited to attend.

Oliver was in the back row, fourth from the left.

They sang about six songs. During one song Oliver got to play the xylophone.

After the concert Daddy took us out for Culver's dinner, with ice cream dessert. yum.

Photography: Vegas...

My Husband and I took a trip a few weeks ago to Las Vegas. We went down for his brothers wedding and had only a few days to see the strip. It seemed to go by so fast that I just remember a lot of walking. Vegas is a pretty interesting place full of fascinating people watching. I loved seeing the variety of architecture and the sheer size of the hotels. Watching the fountain show one evening in front of the Bellagio was a real treat. I’d seen it in a few movies, but the size of the pool- wow- it’s huge.

A few words of wisdom I heard from Las Vegas street hustler: “pick up that attitude and SMILE!”

Las Vegas Trip...

Jerimy and I traveled to Las Vegas for his older brother's wedding. Had a little kid juggling to deal with, but thanks to Mormor and Auntie Em the boys were well taken care of while we were gone. They barely had enough time to miss us.

We left Wednesday March 4th in the morning. Oma and Auntie Dana picked us up, stopped for a quick breakfast and headed to the airport. Our flight was around lunchtime and we arrived mid afternoon. All of us were staying at MGM so we took a taxi to the hotel. Jerimy's brothers were already at the hotel, having arrived before us, so we met up with them for some lunch. Then took our first walk down the strip. Jerimy's been to Vegas before but I have not. I feel like we saw a lot in the two and a half days we were there. Of course the interior of the casinos start to look the same after the fourth or fifth one. Lots of walking, lots of lights, and lots of people. It was a pleasant trip and so glad we be there to watch his older brother Jason get married to his bride Sara.

I took too many videos and photos for one blog post so I threw together a little video that encapsulates our time in Las Vegas. (Password is: lasvegas)

We left Friday March 6th mid morning and were back to Minnesota in time to put the boys to bed that evening.

Bowling with Oma...

Daddy started a new full time job the beginning of March. He is now a writer with 3M doing copyrighting stuff. He quit UPS where he was working the early morning shift (3am-9am) and now works during the day 7-4pm. It's a change for us but exciting. The Friday before he started the new job he took the boys and I out for a night of bowling. We met up with Oma and Auntie Dana for one game at Brunswick lanes.

The boys could have bowled all night, they had so much fun.

We even had a pizza dinner at the lanes. Yum.

We all scored pretty evenly. I'm not the greatest bowler, but it sure was fun to play.

We also played in the arcade for a few games of skee ball (my favorite!).

A funny video of Lucius' running up to granny bowl.

Quotable: love

Oliver heard his Grandma Great was in the hospital and wanted to write her a card. On the front it said "happy Valentines day" and "get well soon". He show it to Daddy and when he opened to the inside he laughed out loud. Daddy told Oliver to bring it to me to read and this is what I saw...

"even though you are old, I still love you"

Thankfully Grandma Great has a nice sense of humor and laughed about it.

Bunny obsession...

Oliver can grow a little obsessed with things. Most recently it's been bunnies. We didn't even realized it till his teacher commented on it at conferences. She said they'd been studying animals this month but all Oliver seemed interested in learning about or writing about was bunnies. Now all we see is bunnies all over his class work and drawings. It's actually quite funny when I get a whole stack of his school work and it looks like this...

Lets just say I now know how to say bunny (technically rabbit) in Spanish. "CONEJO!"
His bunnies are pretty adorable. "you can't say no to a bunny, can you?"

Oliver's always had these obsessions. They last for a couple months and then he usually moves onto something else. In Kindergarten it started off with Super heroes, next it was wolves, and then it was Ninja turtles. During the summer it seemed like it was drawing mazes, lots of mazes. Not sure if he had anything particular at the beginning of first grade he focused on, maybe because he was using his energy learning a new language.

Our Library...

Have I mentioned how much we love the library. We go at least once a week. Well Lucius and I do. Oliver goes when we can make it over there after school or on weekends. One Friday there was no school, so we went over to our Library to play on the giant Lite brite there. We also picked out a bunch of books to check out. When we got home there was a nice long stretch of quiet reading time.

One Wednesday, Lucius and I meet some friends at the Library for an obstacle course they had set up. It was tunnels and stepping stones and even a skeleton foam floor puzzle. Pretty neat!
