I've never really been that interested in flowers. But the last year or so I've got the gardening bug. It started with our first ever vegetable garden last year. When researching my garden this year, I read about companion plants and a few flowers that were beneficial to plant near certain veggies. I planted a few marigolds, poppies and a dahlia near my cauliflower. Now I am noticing other flowers just for their pure beauty and design. Maybe next year my garden will be colorful as well as edible.

Waterplay...
Its getting warmer out. We've been playing with a lot of water lately. Water in buckets, water in the small pools, water guns, and even took a trip to the wadding pool.

Sandlot sports: T-ball
Back in February I had an idea. I knew I probably wasn't going to have the money to put the boys into sports stuff in the summer through the rec centers, but wanted to give them a chance to be involved in sports. I thought I would just give a shout out to some friends who have kids roughly the same age and see who wanted to gather together. Turns out several friends and family thought it'd be fun, thus Sandlot Sports was created.
On the first Monday in June we gathered at Oliver's school field to play T-ball. Thanks to Jerimy, Auntie Em and my brother-in-law Hung who helped me wrangle 8 four year olds, we had a fun night of playing. We ran the bases, everyone got a chance to field and hit several times.
Afterward most of us sat down to picnic dinners we'd packed. Lucius and Oliver had a blast. Oliver was disappointed that he didn't get to get anyone out, but other than that a good time had by all.

quotable...
Random quotes:
Oliver walking home from the playground with a cut on his ankle:
"all three of my other ankles don't hurt. But one does"
Lucius: "When I grow up I'm going to play baseball" to which Oliver responds "well, when I grow up I'm going to be a ninja!"

Kindergarten success night...
Last Thursday evening was Oliver's Kindergarten success night which turned out to be a "graduation" type event. Lots of singing (he had been singing the songs for a few weeks) and a little dancing (which Oliver did not want to participate).
Oliver with his teachers...
Then they got a their "diploma" from their teacher.
Mormor and Morfar came along. We forgot it was happening till the night before or we might have remembered to invite other grandparents (sorry!). Afterwards we all went out for ice cream to celebrate the ending of the school year.

A tree felled down...
Mormor and Morfar had a tree cut down in the back yard. When Oliver got home from school we had a picnic lunch outside so we could watch the tree being cut down.
This does not look like a job I would enjoy. Though I did spend a few hours hauling tree limbs to the front yard- that was fun.
I remembered we had a few egg cartons saved, so we collected sawdust to make our own fire starters for our upcoming camping trip. The boys were pretty excited to play with the sawdust.
Later when the tree guy went to lunch the boys thought playing in the branches and on the trunk was the best.

A hike...
Last Saturday we went out for a family hike. We didn't go very far from the house and found a fun new path to follow. At first we stayed on the paved trail but eventually we started exploring through the woods. The boys are always up for a hike and they love it better on the "pine needle paths" (as Oliver called them).
We walked about an hour and a half and then headed home for lunch. It was a good morning, we even saw a deer.
