We bought tickets for the Hobbit almost as soon as they went on sale. I bought tickets to the sensory friendly show because of how the boys occasionally react during performances. They both LOVED it and I couldn't really tell that the sound was softer, lights stayed on and a few other accommodations they had.
We arrived in Mpls early so we could park and find some dinner. The boys opted for a yummy pizza dinner from Black Sheep and it was oh so tasty!
After dinner we spotted a fancy donut shop and Jerimy decided to buy the boys each a donut. I don't know how they had any room left after stuffing their faces full of pizza, but hey- fun nights deserve fun treats.
Jerimy came along on this trip, usually he's not much for plays but he came! We walked around the MIA museum for a little bit because we got there a little early for the play. It was fun because it was the Art in Bloom event. The Art in Bloom event the boys and I usually skip school to go to but this year I couldn't get the time off. So it was cool that we got to see a little bit of it with Daddy before the show started.
We found our seats and even were able to borrow a few sensory fidgets from the theater for the boys. Not sure they helped but it kept their wiggles down a smidge.
All in all I'd call that a fun adventure!

2017 Art in Bloom...
It's become a little family tradition to ditch school on The Friday that the Minneapolis Institute of Art has its Art in Bloom event. We go, enjoy finding the flowers and seeing all the art that we remembered seeing previous years. I'm not a huge museum person but I love this event because its exciting to turn a corner and find yet another beautiful flower display. The flowers mimic a specific art piece and that makes both a little more interesting to me. On their own I could probably take them or leave them, but together they intrigue me.
Lucius completed a scavenger hunt. Part of it was to draw two faces he found in the museum. He diligently worked at it.
This was a bunch of algae growing in bags hanging from the ceiling.
Lucius found his little favorite spot at a chess table.
When I asked them to take a picture this is what I got. For the most part they had fun and I let them lead me around wherever they wanted to go. But the one time I asked for a photo by this painting- and the 2 seconds no one was near us- these are the faces they gave me.
After the museum we went out to eat at Pot Belly's in Dinkytown and had cookies from a nearby bakery.
Then stopped off at a park. This one is an old favorite of ours but has recently had a makeover since our last visit. Pretty fun to play on a brand new playground.
All in all a fantastic day to ditch school and spend time with the little misters.

2016 Art In Bloom...
It's become a tradition to take the day off school so we can attend the Art in Bloom event at the MIA. This year was our 4th year attending the event. The boys and I almost missed it because I had forgot to put it on my calendar. I learned about it two days before hand but we had already planned to skip school that Friday. So it all worked out perfect. (this was back at the end of April- I'm just now getting the photos off my big camera).
We arrived right at the start, found a pretty good free parking spot and walked to the Museum. The boys had my small camera to take pictures as the choose. I took a few photos but not that many, attempting to enjoy the calm of the day.
Such a fun (although shorter than expected) day spent with my two Little Misters. We were at the museum a little over an hour and after lunch they didn't really want to stay to see more art. Still a good day. We even had a little time to stop at a playground on the way home.
