Technically this was our last day in Paris, but really all we did was pack up the last of our things, lock the apartment and walk to the Metro to take the train to the airport. We left for our long travels home around 11am Paris time, spent a crazy couple of hours at the Newark, NJ airport fighting our way through massive security lines (hoping not to miss our connecting flight) and then a few hours later arrived home around 5pm MN time. SO thankfully to be home and I couldn't wait to see the boys.
We gave them their gifts pretty soon after we arrive home, after hugs. They loved them, especially their macaroons which traveled fairly well all the way home.
And thus ended a wonderful trip to Paris.

Paris Day 6...
Our last whole day in Paris. We decided not to try the lines at the Eiffel Tower or do anything that involved standing in lines. We walked to the river and explored the river path. One of the best parts of our morning were when we found a couple of relaxing lawn chairs the city has down by the river in the shade. A nice grassy stretch of river with a kid play area and a view across the river to Notre Dame. We sat for quite a while just taking in the sounds of the city and the relaxing last day of our vacation. It was wonderful.
From here we walked to find areas of the city we hadn't explored yet and eventually find some macaroons to take home, since that's the only thing Oliver wanted brought home from our travels. The stores we were looking for had closed except one that we found which had moved a block away. These macaroons were the most expensive thing we bought on our trip but were worth when we saw the smile on Oliver's face when he ate them.
In all our walking we did find a book store selling old books in English, a yarn store and a few fun building along the way. After getting our super expensive cookies I convinced Jerimy to rent bikes to ride back to the apartment for lunch. It was a little crazy navigating the Paris traffic and streets but we made it safe and sound. After lunch I believe we rode our bikes down toward Notre Dame (can you tell that was my favorite place to visit?!)... to sit and read for a while. We found a bench out of the way to sit and relax. About an hour or so later we seemed to have become surrounded by enough people chilling around us that we got up and walked some more. I believe there was last crepe's to be eaten and tarts to be found that evening. Eventually making our way back to the apartment to pack up our things and clean up before our early morning to get to the airport. So that was Day 6 and it was amazing.

Photography: A Paris Castle...
One of our last days in Paris we decided to ride the number 1 train to
the edge of town to see a Chateau. Turns out the chateau is really more
of a castle. From the photos I’d seen of it online I hadn’t been too
excited about it, we only ended up going because we had some time to
explore. I’m so glad we did go! It was an interesting place to explore.
The Place was called Chateau de Vincennes.
Paris trip day 5 (part 2)...
Once we arrive back in Paris we jumped on a metro to go see another chateau on the edge of town. I had seen photos but nothing that told me the chateau was really more of a castle. I loved it. We walked over a draw bridge to enter, then it didn't look like much. We found the building that you buy tickets at and asked where to go now. They told us to go down some more in the big courtyard type area. We rounded the corner of the ticket building and BAM- there was a big old castle. So exciting. The place was called Chateau de Vincennes.
A fascinating place with small rooms and crazy stairs. I'm so excited that we made it here and ended our day with blue skies and a castle tour. To see more photos of the Castle click here.
We ate dinner outside at a cafe near our apartment. Went back to the apartment to chill for a bit cause it was a hot afternoon. Then around 8 pm we went out to find ice cream dessert and go sit down by the river. Jerimy and I had a pleasant chat about all kinds of things. I felt like our old date night back pre-marriage. We saw the sunset over Notre Dame and then started our stroll back home.
I even asked a total stranger to take our photo together in front of my favorite place in Paris.
There might have been a hunt for a yummy crepe. Finally found one near our apartment before we gave up hope. I can tell you it was SUPER yummy.
And that was the end of day number 5.
