We're officially made it to the end of our spring break. Last year on this Sunday of spring break we were waiting to see what schools were closing. We followed the stay at home order pretty well and did a whole lot of not much this past year. Now that the weather is warming up again we're spending more time outside and trying to walk off a few of these lazy pounds we've accumulated.
We took a walk on a new to us boardwalk one Saturday afternoon. The kids wanted to walk on a frozen lake, which freaks me out, but we did walk on it a tiny ways just to get a photo of them standing on the lake. Then we went to the grocery store and bought ice cream, cause well it sounded yummy.
Lucius continues to play chess and spends a great deal of time sitting just like this to play online chess or watch other chess masters play their games. He's quite addicted and we have to hide the tablet from time to time to get him away from the screens.
Jerimy found us a new game to play and ordered it online. We played it one evening once it was dark because you have to turn off the lights to play it. It was really fun! You have to move this lantern around the board whiel the other players try to hid guys behind the trees. They can only hid in shadows and if the light of the lantern finds them, they become frozen.
Our first real covid risk outing was to go swimming at the Shoreview community pool. We had to make a reservation, so I knew there could only be a limited amount of people there. I was still worried, but for the hour we were there, we had most of the pool to ourselves. The kids even got to try log rolling. O was pretty good at it right away, probably thanks to their practice and balance on their stand up paddle board.
The kids have been enjoying their new scooters they got from Oma for Christmas.
The beginning of spring break we went on a nature hike with Auntie Mick and her crew to Reservoir Woods. That was quite fun. O had school and stayed home to do zooms.
I have more photos from spring break but we're glad that we've managed to stay safe for a whole year and do our part to lessen the spread of Covid 19. It'll be wonderful to be out adventuring again this summer, but for now we enjoy the outings we can do.
