Since about January Lucius has really gotten into the game of Chess. We have done open chess times, many games at home, games with Grandpa and even a few chess tournaments. Well I worked this summer with Community Education and his school to start a chess club. I'm happy to report that today was our first day of Chess Club at the boys' school!
We managed to get 9 kids signed up to play every Thursday morning before school. We got two whole games in and a mini chess lesson. Ps- I'm running the Chess club and have no real insight into chess, so I'll be figuring this out as I go. I know just enough to play, and am by no means a grand master. Hopefully we will all get a little better and have fun in the process!
Also, all kids left happy except for Lucius who was in tears about losing to his friend. He also mentioned he never wanted to play chess at chess club ever again, right after he swiped some pieces off the table and onto the floor. Seriously a bummer. He said his "strategy is no good when he is tired, so he doesn't want to play when he is tired or he'll lose all the time."
Lucius was required to write an apology note to his friend.
I love that this drawing he did his friend has a happy face, Lucius has a grumpy face and there are chess pieces falling off the table.
