For us, Thanksgiving is all about family. We're exceptionally pleased to have a plethora of Grandma's and Grandpa's, Aunts and Uncles in the boys lives. We wanted to be able to see as much of your extended family for as long as possible this holiday. We traveled up to Grandpa's Wednesday afternoon to visit. Great Grandma Vi was in town and we chatted with her. I unfortunately forgot to take photos because my camera was in the back of the car. I'm quite sad about that. After a fantastic dinner (thank you very much Grandpa Gale!) it was off to Oma's house where we'd spend the night, to avoid holiday driving Thursday.

Whose bright idea was it to fit four people into one bedroom and expect everyone to get a good night of sleep? Me, yup that was me. Silly Marmee. Oliver and Lucius skipped all forms of naps while visiting Grandpa, needless to say they were both extremely tired. Oliver crashed at 5:30pm. That's at least an hour earlier than normal. Lucius, although tired, got a second wind long after he should have been in bed. I'll save you the details (since I'm too tired to remember them all), but He was up on and off till 1:30am. At some point I heard Oliver on his little bed say "
Lucius, It's not that traumatic, it's just Oma's". I have to say I quite agreed. I attempted humming the bedtime song I've sang to both the boys since they were babies and Oliver was singing most of the correct words. It would have been a very sweet moment if I wasn't beyond frustrated that no one was sleeping.
Oh well. Oliver and I did eventually manage a little sleep and were up before the light of day. Joyfully he played- Here's where I mention how very thankful I am for loving active children who make me smile through my utter exhaustion. We enjoyed a wonderful morning with Oma, Opa and Auntie Dana. A marvelous feast was eaten and yummy pies too. Thank you Oma & Opa for a wonderful meal!
On the way home Oliver asked "Can I have an Overnight with Mormor or Oma?" Since we just left Oma's he called and asked Mormor. Currently he's enjoying his third set of grandparents in the last two days, while we enjoy a little one on one time with Lucius. Hopefully we can all get a bit more sleep than last night and be ready for tomorrow's Thanksgiving at Auntie Em's house.
We are SO very THANKFUL for both Jerimy and my Families.
