Dodge Nature Center Field Trip

Lucius and I took a trip to the Dodge Nature Center to see all the baby animals on the farm with our ECFE class. He was not happy that it was windy, as usual. Thankfully once we started seeing the smaller animals he forgot his dislike of the wind. He had a GREAT time feeding the chickens and was brave enough to pet a few. All the kids got to play in the hay loft, which he found quite enjoyable.

It was a fun morning on the farm with just me and my baby.

Oliver's Artwork

I made a collage of Oliver's art over the past 6 months. The Stack was getting a little thick, but before I sorted it out and tossed a few things, I took photos of each and every one. Hopefully Oliver will understand I treasure his talents and imagination a little more than I do a stack of papers.

Lucius' eye infection

Lucius has had a cold this past month or so- what we thought was just a running nose. But just after his nose cleared up he wakes up with goopy eyes. Unfortunately today it wasn't just the goop that bugged me, it was his swollen eye lids. Poor guy looked like he had been knocked out.

Daddy took him to the doctor and got eye drops and medicine so that hopefully he'll be able to fight this infection out of his system and feel better soon. Then he won't have to deal with these crusty, swollen, goopy eyes much longer.

Some randomness

Anyone who has ever seen Lucius eat food knows it's not for the faint of heart. He seems to think just because it fits it should all go in at the same time. With his cheeks beyond capacity, it's terribly hard to imagine that he even tastes what he's eating. Here's a few photos of Lucius while eating... the ones that don't show him trying to choke himself.

The little misters have been playing pretty good together lately, with a few minor fights. They both enjoy being silly more than anything. I caught a glimpse of their weirdness when I snapped this photo. Don't ask me what they were pretending... must have been interesting.

The other day we went for a walk and the boys rode their bikes all the way to the corner store. Of course our "corner store" is five and a half long blocks away. I thought it'd be fun, but it turned out to be one of the most stressful walks I've taken in my life. We had to cross three busy roads- not seriously busy, but busy enough to send me into a panic. How was I supposed to get two boys, who ride at different speeds, across a city street without having them get run over. Aagh. We did manage- but I feel like I need one of those school crossing guard orange flags with the giant STOP printed on it.Or I guess we could have walked up an extra block to get to the street lights. Anyways, the boys rode the whole way and are really loving peddling their bikes. Lucius has some powerful legs, he can go up hills and backwards when needed- something Oliver is still working on. Lucius even had a little extra weight in his bike's back carrier coming home (thanks Lucius!).

A Brother photoshoot

My sisters and I took all the little's to the Mill City Museum to take a few photos. Really it was because I wanted a little practice with my camera and they indulged me. Thanks Eme and Mick for letting me take photos of your kids and for your patience with me snapping pics of my little misters.

Oh and I just realized I didn't get any of Oliver and Lucius individually like I did with Casen, Brianna and Carl. Shoot. I guess that just means we'll have to go back another day!

"No like Wind"

I captured these photos at Oma's on Easter Sunday. It's a series of faces of Lucius expressing his utter dislike of the wind. Don't ask me why, he just doesn't like the wind to blow... or the rain to fall.

Easter At Oma's

After finding their Easter Buckets at our house Sunday morning, we headed straight up to Oma's to spend time with family. Oma and Auntie Dana had laid out a few fun, special gifts for the boys. Their favorite new item being the sunglasses they each got. They put them on stright away and hardly took them off all day. At one point Lucius was pouting and started to cry, I asked him what was wrong and he said "dark". I figured out he meant it was too dark in the house, so I told him to take his sunglasses off. Silly guy!

We brought up the rocket balloons from the Easter Bunny and had a lot of fun blowing them up and watching them fly. Fun for the old and young, and even better that the young run and grab the balloons, bringing them back for us olders.

Oma also bought the boys bubble wands, which they also love very much. I wasn't sure Lucius would have the coordination to get the wand into that tiny little opening, but he managed just fine, with a little help from his tongue!

Uncle Jason and Uncle Scott are always great fun to have around- the boys got so excited and wound up around their uncles you'd have thought they were made of sugar. I'm glad they love entertaining the littles as much as the littles love being entertained by them.
