Lucius' first Haircut: a family affair

I gave Lucius his first haircut this weekend. Daddy took the photos, Marmee used scissors, and Oliver made small talk while combing the hair on top of his brothers head. I actually only cut the back and left the top of his head alone. Bye bye baby mullet.  Ta-da:

Ice Cream, Ice Cream Yum!

I think one afternoon a few weekends ago we decided it was time for some ice cream. The boys enjoyed every last drop and we shared. Yum.

Here's Oliver feeding his brother and then eating what Lucius left on the spoon. That's our kid, don't leave a drop of ice cream to melt.

More kids more quiet: How does that work?

Okay, I'll be honest, my least favorite part of the day is just after dinner. That is when I'm ready to sit down and enjoy a little extra peace and quiet. That usually not what my boys have in mind, more often than not they escalate their volume levels.

Tonight we invited our two neighbor girls over play. That means there was a 8 year old, a 5 year old, a 3 year old and a 20 month old upstairs in my house. You'd think adding extra small people into the evening mix would be insane, but it was so quiet. WHAT?!?! How is that possible?

My neighbor was also shocked because her two youngest (the 8 year old and 5 year old) don't get along at all. She expected to hear a few fights through the window, but we didn't have a single fight the whole time. I guess we need to do this more often!

Lucius climbed up and down the stair like 50 times, coming down to tell me something he thought was worth all those trips, but for the life of me I don't know if he was a snitch or just super excited to have company.

Poor Lucius and his Bath time

Oliver's been playing with the neighbor girl lately. Yesterday She came over and played in our playroom with Oliver for about two hours. After dinner tonight he got to go to her house to play in her playroom. While he was over socializing, Lucius took a bath- ALL BY HIMSELF. Well I mean I was there of course, but he didn't have to share the tub with his brother. As I sat there watching him quietly play with the bath toys and water I realized I could probably count on one hand the number of baths he's taken by himself in his 20 months of life. I felt bad for the little guy, so I let him play for what might have been a half hour or more.

Poor second born child. Lucius, I apologize for not giving you as much attention as you deserve. I am sorry that most days I'm too lazy to give you and your brother individual baths. I do love you and your "business in the front, party in the back" hair very much.

Monkey see, monkey do

I guess Lucius has been watching Daddy work on his school work lately, now that school's back in session. He decided to do a little computer work as well. Daddy turned his back for only a couple seconds.

A trip to the Zoo

Seems like we go to the Zoo a LOT of times in a year, but I can't think of a more amazing kid adventure than to see all kind of animals. Who doesn't love going to the Zoo?! I think I'd go weather or not I had kids. The boys and I headed out on a last minute trip to our local {almost free} Zoo one afternoon this week. I love being outdoors with the boys, maybe because they seem a little quieter out of doors than cooped up indoors.

The Little misters love all the animals but Lucius REALLY enjoyed the fish this visit. He'd look down and point and then look up at me and wildly exclaim "Mommy, mommy!!" with some unintelligible babble. It was pretty fun to watch his excitement. Oliver loved the monkeys the best this time around, even making friends with another little boy about his age. Now if only we all could make friends as fast as he does- goodness.
