Simple Pleasures: sledding...

New Year's Eve we took the boys out for a little family sledding day.

I think we were out for a little more than an hour before we went home to warm up. All in all a great time!

Contraptions...

Uncle Scott and Auntie Amy bought the boys different contraptions to build. Lucius got a catapult and Oliver got a robotic arm. Grandpa also bought Oliver a catapult. Needless to say, two little misters REALLY wanted to build them as soon as possible. The Saturday after New Years day we opened the boxes and began construction. I helped Lucius first as their was a lot of gluing and measuring. Then Oliver began his robotic arm. I attempted to be more hands off, he read the instructions carefully and assembled. I checked his handiwork and glued pieces together.

The next day on Sunday, Oliver built his catapult from Grandpa and Grandma.

A few days later I showed the boys how to build towers to shoot their catapults at. They really enjoyed their contraptions then. There's been quite the demolition zone in their toy room ever since.

Quotable: random thoughts

Lucius "something's weird in my throat. I'm puzzled and confused and that makes me feel cold."

Oliver one morning:
"Marmee two things... No three things. One- I'm hungry, two I want a Netherland dwarf bunny, three I want Shopkins"

Words that came out of my Oliver's mouth at dinner talking about what we want to gift to other people "I know what I want to get my friend for Christmas but I know its probably not possible. A REAL Diamond. But thats probably like a thousand dollars, so I might not be able too".

Christmas re-do

Oliver and Jerimy missed out on all our Christmas gatherings and the whole family missed visiting Oma & Opa on Christmas day. So on New Years Day we went up to their house to celebrate Christmas, a Christmas re-do (minus a few aunts and uncles).  The boys got to open all their gifts right away, which they were super excited about.

Then they started opening the packages and building everything.

Auntie Dana got Oliver a secret electronic diary that has a password to get into it. He only wanted his aunties help setting it up so that only she and himself knew this password.

Auntie Dana also helped teach us how to play farkle, a dice game.

Then before we left for the night, we went out to pizza pub for dinner, cause pizza just sounded good. (Even though our fantastic lunch leftovers would have been super yummy a second time).

Thank you Oma, Opa and Auntie Dana for a fun Christmas do over!

Technical difficulties...

I messed with some settings and i hope to get them fixed soon. Until then, you might not see some photos... Or any photos. Check back soon...

Christmas Morning...

Christmas Morning came before we knew it. The boys let us sleep for a little while and then we got up so they could open their presents. They started with the two really big presents from Daddy and I. Lucius got soccer nets and Oliver got a giant stuff bunny. Both boys were super excited and happy.

Then they moved on to their gifts from Santa. A few new books, Pj's and smaller toys & things.

We were going to drive up to spend the day with Jerimy's mom and family, but since Oliver had been throwing up all day Christmas Eve, we thought it best to stay home. That way we could prevent others from getting the yuck. SO we had a quiet day at home, not much happened. In fact it didn't really feel too much like Christmas without spending time with family. I realized Jerimy and Oliver had missed out on every single Christmas gathering we usually go to- I still feel a bit bad for them.

Christmas Eve...

On Christmas Eve Lucius and I went to Auntie Em's house to hang out with family. Unfortunately, Oliver was sick and had to stay home with Jerimy so we didn't spend the germs around.

We opened presents, played with cousins, took pictures with my Uncles (who like to wear red and Santa hats around the Holidays) and spent time with family.

Later that night, after we ate a yummy taco dinner, we came home to find Oliver feeling a little bit better. He wanted to open a few gifts, so we opened a couple from Mormor and Morfar.

Soon afterward, it was about time for bed. Everyone but Marmee went to sleep so Santa could come. Marmee stayed up to deliver a few presents near the tree. It was a little weird doing it myself, but Jerimy was feeling a bit under the weather and tired himself. Then it was time for me to crawl under the covers and dream away the night.
