Last Saturday we woke up and headed over to Highland Fest. I knew they had a petting zoo there and thought it would be a fun adventure. The Little Misters loved petting all the different animals and feeding the goats.
We even found cheap pony rides for a dollar. That's a pretty good deal in my experience as a city girl. Lucius feed his pony a carrot before he hopped on for a ride.
On our way back to the car we walked past an old red car that Lucius wanted his picture taken next too. How could I not take a picture or two?!
Then we drove over to the Highland water tower. We were there last year and since they don't open it more than twice a year we figured we'd climb back up to the top for the fun of it. The boys are always up for climbing towers.
A great day and fun adventure!

Little Free Libraries...
We've been on a hunt this summer to find all the "Little Free Libraries" in our area. We bring our well read books to trade them for new to us books. One day not too long ago, we went for our typical bike ride to the big library. Part way there I decided to look at the map and see if any LFL's were on the way. I found two that were in the right direction. We changed our path every so slightly- discovering by doing so we not only found a LFL, but we skipped out on biking up a big hill to get to the big library. BONUS.
We stopped, read some books, picked out new books, replaced with our old books and were off again. After checking out a dozen or so library books and read a few more there...
We jumped back on our bikes to find a second "Little Free Library". Took a look at their selection and were off again. The Little misters decided to stop at a nearby park for our picnic lunch. After which they played for a while and then we rode our bikes back home again. I bet we probably rode 7 miles. It amazes me how much energy they have and love that we can go for longer-ish bike rides together.

another photo dump post...
On Oliver's half birthday we made pink lemonade ice cream floats cause, well, that's what was in my kitchen. The boys loved them!
Then, instead of a big party... we decided on a last minute outdoor movie night. We brought out the big TV and a few couches and started the movie around 7pm. It was nice not waiting till dusk, plus all the bugs stayed away till after the sun set, which just happen to be after the end of the movie. hooray! We invited a few friends, anyone who was in town because it was the 5th of July.
Notice how the couches remained unused. Crazy kiddos.
For Lucius' half birthday Mormor ordered him a world cup Argentina soccer uniform. When he opened it he was literally GLOWING he was so happy. She also bought him tall soccer socks, because he's been asking for them since the beginning of summer. He was so happy that he gave them at least 5 hugs. Lucius is a sports fan BIG TIME.
On July 12th, we went to Auntie Em's house to celebrate cousin Carl's third birthday. They usually have a duck race, but because they no longer live on a creek, it was a duck sling shot game. The boys were super excited to be using the giant sling shot to launch their ducks.
While at Carl's party, Daddy painted Oliver's face and I took a selfie (trying to get more Jerimy and I pictures)...
The boys and I met some friends at a park and found a hobbit hole there. Unfortunately, Oliver got sick only 15 minutes after being there and laid down for the rest of our stay. Otherwise he might have really enjoyed the hobbit hole, as he and Daddy are reading the "Hobbit" together this summer.
A week later, Lucius got sick. High fever and super tired. During quiet time he had been reading books and then Oliver came out and told us Lucius had fallen asleep. This is how we found him.
The next day he still wasn't feeling the greatest and I thought a little fresh air in the afternoon might do him some good. So I set up a cot and we brought out blankets for him. He laid on the cot for almost an hour just watching his brother play in the back yard. Then he just fell asleep again. I believe he slept for more than an hour. I even started mowing the lawn and he slept right through it. Poor thing. Thankfully everyone seems to be on the mend.
After everyone was all better we got a call from our next door neighbor asking if we wanted to tag along to the Zoo with them last minute. We said "sure, sounds fun" and all rode together in their minivan, which the boys think is super awesome to ride in someone else's car. We enjoyed a long morning at the zoo, sat through the Sparky the seal show and then ate our picnic lunches before heading back home.
One of our neighbors runs a day care. The boys have made friends with all the kids she watches and they've got her wrapped around their little fingers. She gave them each a bandana the other day and we played a blind man's bluff type game. They had a blast trying to find their way across the yard without being able to see.
Lastly, we took a long after dinner walk as a family one night. I was scouting out good backgrounds for an upcoming photo session and the Little Misters were super helpful being my stand-ins. They aren't the greatest photos ever but cute none the less.
So there you have it- a nice big photo dump to get us back on track.

July 4th!!
The fourth of July was busy. Just after noon we headed to "um Y" and "Ba Y" house for lunch. Then when we got back home walked to the neighbors house to their back yard party. After a yummy dinner and a lot of playing we went home to rest a bit before going to see fireworks. Oliver feel asleep pretty quickly and slept for almost 2 hours. I don't think he was feeling the greatest, but we woke him up and packed a few snacks to take to the park. We drove down to the ball fields to get our spots around 8pm. We played soccer and Frisbee, took a few photos and eat our snacks. Eventually ten o'clock came and the fireworks started. Twenty-five minutes later, we were happily walking back to the car chatting about which fireworks were our favorites.

discover your parks...
The city of Roseville has a evening once a week during the summer to Discover neighborhood parks. Last week the park was two blocks from our house. The Little Misters and I headed out after dinner to enjoy crafts and a bouncey house.
Oliver and Lucius made fourth of July crowns and jumped a few times in the bouncy castle before some friends of ours arrived. But Oliver had a hard time with some conflict and threw a fit. Eventually he calmed down but was soon frustrated again and threw another fit. So we walked him home so he could go to bed early. Lucius and I walked back down to the park to enjoy a late evening snack, a puppet show and an extra turn in the bouncy house.
What a fun night. The very next morning Oliver, Lucius and I went to a different park to see the puppet wagon again. This time there were no fits and they both got to go inside when the show was finished.

soccer...
Lucius has been HUGE into soccer lately. This video was a few weeks ago already, but he played for over an hour. When he was finished with his game he gave me a 20 minute play by play run down. Then if that wasn't enough he showed me some of the highlights in slow motion with sound effects. It was pretty funny to see.
