It was in the forties today

The only reason we had all the winter gear on was to protect against the puddles. Other than that it was gorgeous outside this afternoon, we just had to get out there and enjoy the forty degree temps. I think the boys truly enjoyed being outside again. We got to talk to a neighbor and walk up and down the sidewalk in front of our house. Yee Haw!

The great room swap continues

Saturday morning we finally bought a bed frame for Oliver that was twin sized. Instead of the traditional bunk bed, which might have been easier to get into the house, I found a used loft bed. The pros are that it's not as high as a bunk bed which means less fear and less hassle when it's time to change the sheets. The cons are that it is one solid steel piece of construction which means it's extremely heavy, but VERY sturdy.

Jerimy's very generous friend came with his truck, trailer and muscles to help move the bed frame from the sellers house to our home. Then they some how managed to twist and turn it up the bending staircase that leads to our second floor. This one hundred year old house wasn't built with a ton of extra space, so I'm pleased to say it made it. Oliver was so ecstatic about the new bed, that there was no way he'd be taking a nap Saturday. It was off to get a new pillow and bed sheets. He's been using little throw pillows for quite a while, I figured it was about time he had a big boy pillow.

We moved Oliver into the nursery to share a room with Lucius. We weren't quite sure if we as parents were ready for that, but whatever. The boys must have enjoyed each others company as they were still asleep at 8am this morning when we started taking showers to get ready for church. I should mention they were both up at 5 am, Oliver went to the bathroom to potty while I changed Lucius. I heard them giggling briefly, Oliver said "Luoooo-ciousss" singingly and then I believe it went silent. We'll see how this week goes.

As a bonus to the boys sharing a room, we now have a playroom. A whole room to play in and at night when the house is quite- it's a nice little retreat space for me- who wouldn't feel rich saying that?!

Swimming Pool adventure night

Auntie Mick and Uncle Hung found a local hotel that offered their pool to the public a couple nights a week, the cost: free! It's not a very big pool, but we were the first and only people in the pool for about 45 minutes, just enough time to really enjoy the water. We were getting everyone dry when others started to come. Perfect timing.

And after we were all back in clothes, we headed to the lobby for free snacks (cookies, and cocoa). The boys shared a few cheerios from home on the lobby couch. So cute.  Then it was back home for dinner and a movie.

a couple of videos

Lucius on the go.
Walking, walking, hitting/ a mini fussing fit quenched by giving him what he wanted- the walker to walk even faster.

Brotherly love: Lucius sneaking up on Oliver to see what he's doing and does his best to bother him. Oliver pushing because he's annoyed, Lucius hitting because he thinks it's now a game.

Not with this face

This face would never push or hit his younger brother, oh no not him. Just look at that sugary sweetness. A face like that would never scream at his parents "you can't say no, no, no so much". Such a charming little boy wouldn't even think about throwing toys across the room or choosing not to share. Nope not this little angel.

Family adventure day

In honor of ground hogs day (a special holiday in this family) we took a family adventure on Thursday to the Science Museum. Yes, it was the day after ground hogs day, and yes I ditched work to be with the boys. First we went to look at the ice sculptures that are downtown as part of the winter carnival. It was down right freezing out so we didn't stay too long. When we arrive at the Museum the ticket lady told us they had a dinosaur presentation in a couple of minutes. We rushed to see it but one or two of the little misters weren't that excited. Oliver was down right scared, covering his eyes before the dinosaurs even came out from behind the curtain.  We went to further explore the rest of the museum before the boys were too freaked out. It was quite a fun day.

Lucius at 13 months old

Eight teeth, two favorite animals (cat & rat) and one pacifier addiction.
This week I've officially labeled him a waddling walker, after taking more than twenty steps at one time. He waddles around the kitchen after Oliver and when he's pushing the walker he can hit his maximum speed.
